Fiorentina's Adem Ljajic is set to undergo a medical at AS Roma tomorrow with the 21 year-old having arrived in the city according to reports.

The Serbian international was believed to be heading for Milan but Galliani's side only offered 8 million euros and were to make an improved offer should they get through to the Champions League group stage tomorrow.

Roma however have beaten out their rivals with a 10 million euro bid plus 3 million euros in bonuses and Ljajic has told his teammates that he is Rome bound.

This will be a very like for like replacement for Lamela should he leave for Tottenham in the coming days.

Roma appear to be set to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Mamadou Sakho who has been on the radar of both Milan and Liverpool.

It is believed that they will make a loan offer for the 23 year-old with a permanent option for 10 million euros in the coming day or so.

They are currently behind Milan in the race with Sakho suggesting that it was were he would like to go but they need to qualify for the Champions League this week in order to secure more funds.

Roma meanwhile will probably have to offload either one of Nico Burdisso or Leandro Castan to make sure there isn't too many central defenders on the squad list.

The two teams share a decent relationship among one another with Roma having sold Brazilian prodigy Marquinhos to the Parisian club at the start of the window which could help them beat Milan to the deal.
Rudi Garcia began his competitive reign at Roma with a victory which makes it their first win in round 1 for 5 years with Daniele De Rossi and Alessandro Florenzi on target.

Captain Futuro opened the scoring in the second half with a stunning shot from outside of the box before Florenzi scored just 2 minutes later from an acute angle.

Making their debut today were Maicon and Medhi Benatia who both looked brilliant with the Brazilian making some dazzling runs at times and also Gervinho who came off the bench to replace Marco Borriello.

Goals:
Daniele De Rossi (67')
Alessandro Florenzi (69')

Fiorentina's Adem Ljajic could be heading for Roma with reports suggesting that he will be the replacement for winger Erik Lamela who is set to move to the Spurs for a big €29-35m fee.

The 21 year-old is all set to leave the City of Rome after not making an appearance on the field in Roma's 2-0 win over Livorno with the Argentine in London to finalize the deal today.

Meanwhile in the city of Florence, Ljajic has rejected a contract renewal offer and now is set to leave with the Serbian being available on a free transfer at the end of this season if he stays.

AC Milan who are interested in Ljajic, have made a bid of around €8m which was met by anger by the Fioentina staff. Now they are expected to reject any move to Milan with Roma now favorites to sign him having offered €12m.

Ljajic scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists last season in Serie A compared to Lamela who scored 15 goals and made 5 assists.

AS Roma have been active in this summer's transfer market and it seems that it won't change anytime soon with players still rumoured to be arriving and leaving the club.

Roma's squad coming into the new season seems to be still an unsettled side with players close to leaving and their potential replacements not being settled in the Italian capital until after the league begins. We take a look at the possible movements at the club over the next two weeks.

Demba Ba: Roma could have the signing of Chelsea striker Demba Ba agreed upon by as early as tomorrow with the Senegal international believed to be a replacement for Osvaldo and Borriello. He could cost around 10 million euros.

Marco Borriello: The Italian international could be heading for England to play with West Ham or Fulham but could have a swap deal including Alberto Gilardino revived. The two clubs are considering a loan swap with Gilardino filling in while Destro recovers from injury.

Erik Lamela: Tottenham are believed to be able to comple the 35 million euro deal after they sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid but the prices being talked about could suggest that the Welshman could have a move breakdown and have Lamela remain at the Italian capital.

Miralem Pjanic: A less likely move to Tottenham than Lamela with coach Rudi Garcia not interested at all in selling the Bosnian international and doing everything in his power to keep the play-maker.

Vlad Chiriches: Reports suggesting that the Romanian has agreed to personal terms and Roma are ready to meet the 8 million euro valuation with Garcia not overly sure about the reliability of Castan and Burdisso. Only expect this deal to be made if one of the two named earlier leave.

Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sign Roma reject Pablo Osvaldo who looks set to join the Spurs for a reported €18m.

The two parties have been in talks for some time now over the availability of Osvaldo and a deal could be completed soon.

It is believed that the former Espanyol forward only has eyes for either Inter Milan or Tottenham and has hence rejected moves to Wolfsburg, Southampton and also Benfica.

The 27 year-old could be signed for the Spurs as early as today and this would see both Jermain Defoe and also Emmanuel Adebayor leave the club following Roberto Soldado arrival.
It is believed that Roma have made a big advance in the race to sign Uruguayan Gonzalo Bueno with an offer of €3.5m plus performance based add-ons.

If Bueno was to join the club, 10 appearances would see an extra €0.5m and then if 20 appearances was made €1m would be added to the transfer fee, presumably for this season.

The Nacional forward has also been on the radar of Genoa, Livorno and also Russian side Krasnodar but Roma have taken the lead.

Bueno would probably be an automatic replacement for Nico Lopez who is now co-owned by Udinese and also currently playing for them now as well.

But as it stands Roma have a surplus in forwards at the Capital with talks ongoing for the sale of Pablo Osvaldo and also the future of Marco Borriello is in doubt as well.

English Premier League side have reportedly had an €18m bid accepted for the services of AS Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo.

The 27 year-old striker is set to be sold by the Italian side but it remains to be seen where he will end up or how much the fee will be worth.

The Capital side have already had interest from the likes of Wolfsburg, Zenit, Benfica, Napoli and even Inter Milan.

Southampton have appeared to take the lead in the race but now they need to persuade the Italian international to join the club.

It is believed that they have offered the striker an annual wage of  €2.5m on a four year deal in the hope that he could accept it but Osvaldo has already rejected the club once and it is probable that it will happen again.

Roma continued their good start to the pre-season with a victory over FC Toronto despite going down a goal in the early stages of the match.

It was a tragic own goal which put the Italian team down after a ball was played in only for Nico Burdisso to head into his own net.

But Rudi Garcia's men kicked into action with Alessandro Florenzi after Maicon breezed through the defence and played a ball in from the byline to give the number 24 an easy tap in.

Marco Borriello got his team into the lead with a powerful header off a Florenzi ball in. The second half saw Roma continue their run with Miralem Pjanic hitting a fine free-kick after coming on as a sub.

Pjanic grabbed his brace and the last goal of the game with a cheeky back heel after a lovely piece of play which saw the Bosnian round the keeper to finish.

ROMA (4-3-3): De Sanctis (46' Lobonț), Maicon (62' Romagnoli), Burdisso, Jedvaj (79' Torosidis), Dodô; Taddei (76' Strootman), Bradley (88' Verre), Florenzi (72' Totti); Lamela (76' Tallo), Borriello, Marquinho (24' Pjanić).

Subs: Skorupski, Castán, Ricci F., Balzaretti, Crescenzi, Caprari, Osvaldo.

Roma central defender Leandro Castan has been linked with an exit at the club with reports suggesting that Valencia, Malaga and Atletico Madrid are all interested in buying the Brazilian.

It is believed that new coach Rudi Garcia and director Walter Sabatini do not have the former Corinthians player in their plans for the coming season and now this speculation has fueled links pointing to an exit.

There is apparent interest coming from the La Liga with the likes of Malaga and Atletico Madrid but as it stands Valencia are in pole position.

So Roma who have already lost Marquinhos will look for replacements and have already got Catania stopper Alexis Rolin and also Romanian Vlad Chiriches who had a move to Tottenham fall through in their sights.

Sunday, 4 August 2013

Arsenal winger Gervinho is set to have a medical in Italy today with the deal set to be completed sometime in the next few hours.

The former Lille player is to be reunited with Rudi Garcia who took charge of the Giallorossi at the start of the Summer having left Lille after 5 seasons at the helm in France.

The 26 year-old has had a torrid time at the Emirates over the past two seasons with only 11 goals to his name from 63 appearances.

Garcia will hope that he will be able to bring the Ivorian international back towards his best where he scored 36 goals and made 21 assists from 93 appearances at Lille.

It is believed that he will join for a fee of around 8 million euros with team performance based add-ons a possibility also where the priority is Champions League.

He will also pen a three or four year deal with an annual wage of about 2 million euros as well.

Friday, 2 August 2013

Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini and former Roma director is reportedly trying to strike a deal which will see both Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic head to the Spurs.

The English side are gearing up for the loss of forward Gareth Bale who is expected to make a possible world record transfer to Real Madrid and have now turned their attention to the Roma duo as a replacement.

It is believed that Baldini is willing to offer his former side up to 50 million euros for the pair with Lamela valued at 35 million and Pjanic 15 million.

Roma will try hard to keep their two stars with both players a vital part of the team both last season and this season coming with Rudi Garcia now at the helm.

With the additions of Kevin Strootman and Medhi Benatia and the impending transfer of Gervinho, Roma will not want to take a backwards step by letting Pjanic and Lamela follow Marquinhos through the exit door at the Giallarossi.
